1.  The Passover = deliverance from bondage by the blood of the lamb, and being passed over for death (1 Corinthians 5:7; John 1:29)

2.  The Feast of Unleavened Bread = God’s provision of a sinless Savior, and our victorious walk with Christ (1 Corinthians 5:8)

3.  The Feast of First Fruits = the resurrection of Jesus foreshadowing a greater resurrection still to come (1 Corinthians 15:22-23)

B.  The Hour Came (v. 2; John 12:23-28)

1.  Jesus had prophesied His death and resurrection (Luke 9:22-23; Luke 18:31-34).

2.  Jesus had absolute power and authority over His own life (John 10:17-18; John 19:10-11).

3.  Jesus could not be captured or killed before the appointed time (Luke 19:47).

4.  Jesus laid down His own life at just the right moment (Luke 22:22; Acts 2:23; John 15:13).

5.  Jesus was God’s chosen Passover Lamb (v. 7; Isaiah 53:7-8; 1 Peter 1:19-20 and 3:18).

C.  The Traitor Came (vv. 3-5)

1.  He never believed in Jesus (John 6:61-70).

2.  His motivation was always the money (John 12:4-6).

3.  He was prompted by the devil (John 13:2).

4.  He never sought forgiveness (John 13:10-11).

5.  He never did the will of God (Matthew 7:21-24).

D.  The Opportunity Came (v. 6)

1.  Jesus always knew who would betray him (John 6:64 and 70).

2.  But, He never stopped loving and serving Judas!

Jesus didn’t foolishly fall into a human plot; he faithfully and courageously stepped into a Divine plan!
