Our Everlasting Father – The Advent Season 2017 (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Why is the Lord Jesus Christ called “Father” (John 10:9-10; 10:30 and 38; John 14:9-11; Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:3)?

1. Because He is the Head of all of the people that He represents (1 Corinthians 15:22; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 1:13; Romans 4:11 and 16-17; Hebrews 2:12-15).

2.  Because He is the Founder of a new spiritual paradigm (1 Corinthians 11:25; Hebrews 8:6 and 12:2; Ephesians 2:8-9).

3.  Because He is the Giver of New Life for all who believe (John 1:12-13; John 5:26: Isaiah 53:10; Hebrews 2:13-15).

4.  Because He is the Father of the Age to Come, that He will inaugurate at His second coming (Isaiah 9:6-7).

5.  Because He will fulfill a Father’s role in the New Jerusalem, on the New Earth, in the New Heaven, forever (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-6).

Why is the Lord Jesus Christ called the “Everlasting” Father?

1.  Because He has existed eternally (Revelation 1:4 and 8; John 1:1-2; John 8:58).

2.  Because He is a child that is born to us, but He is a son who is given to us from eternity past (Isaiah 9:6; John 3:16).

3.  Because He pre-existed with the Father in Glory from before the world was created (John 17:50).

4.  Because the Kingdom that He will establish will be an everlasting kingdom (Isaiah 9:7).
